You’ve seen ‘Come Dine with Me’, right? And you probably know about the Open House Art trail throughout the Brighton Festival too. Well Open House Dining is an exciting combination of the two…

Calling all budding chefs or food critics
As part of the Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival 2009, Pretty Clever Events presents a unique and exciting opportunity for foodies. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a chef, or would like not only have a good old nose at someone's house and kitchen, but actually eat there too and be a food critic, then we've got just the thing for you.

Open House Dining is a new concept in food lovers' hospitality. Hosts will throw open their houses and kitchens, and diners will come and eat in them, buying tickets for a chosen dinner party menu. They will have NO idea whose house they're going to!

Diners will be given a review card to make observations and score the host's food, ambience and presentation, and at the end of September prizes are awarded. The host (plus a partner/friend/mum) with the best review will experience a morning in a professional restaurant kitchen, learning the ropes and working a lunch service with the other chefs, followed by a fantastic lunch, courtesy of Sam's of Brighton. And the diner/critic with the most creative review will receive two tickets for the Food & Drink Awards dinner at Mannings Heath Golf Club.
What to do
If you are interested in hosting a dinner party or parties at your house and cooking for them, please register on the Pretty Clever website. There is a registration fee of £10 which you pay once your registration has been accepted, and you will receive a financial contribution towards each guest for the dinner.

You should present a three course menu – how you choose to do this is down to you. Wine is not included, guests bring their own.

If you would like to be a diner and critic, please log on to the Pretty Clever site next week to start perusing menus – when you have found a menu you like, please complete the form and send payment for dinner – dinner is £10 pp for a thee course meal but you will need to take wine if you want it. New menus will be added as time passes. It's that simple...
